EXCLUSIVE: Mark, Atiku, Tambuwal, Others Convene PDP Concerned Leaders Meeting In Abuja, Urge Well Meaning Party Members, Patriotic Nigerians To Join Coalition Against APC
Top Peoples Democratic Party, PDP leaders and elders, including former Vice President, Atiku Abubakakar; former Nigerian Senate President, David Mark; former House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal and former Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido amongst others, convened a crucial meeting of Concerned PDP stakeholders led Concerned PDP to Opposition Coalition Ahead of 2027
In what polity watchers have described as a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections, these prominent PDP leaders formally announced their decision to join the emerging National Opposition Coalition Group (NOCG).
Rising from a crucial meeting held at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Concerned PDP leaders and elders declared that all efforts to rescue and reposition the PDP have failed, describing the party as “irreparably damaged.”
The leaders revealed that they are in advanced discussions to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the coalition’s political platform.
Former Senate President, Senator David Mark, who chaired the meeting, read the communiqué, stressing that the coalition’s mission is to restore national unity, rebuild the economy, uphold democracy, and fight institutional corruption.
“All coalition partners must be united on the issues of national unity, democracy, the national economy, and the political will to stamp out corruption embedded in our institutions,” Senator Mark stated.
He emphasized the urgent need for all well-meaning Nigerians—especially those disillusioned with the PDP—to rally under a unified opposition banner capable of dislodging the All Progressives Congress (APC), which they accused of bringing Nigeria to “a ridiculous end.”
The group called on all progressives and national stakeholders to rise above partisanship and join the coalition to reclaim Nigeria’s future.
Leadership of the coalition is expected to be formally unveiled to the public on Wednesday, signaling what insiders describe as “the beginning of a new political order.”
Among the high-profile figures present at the meeting were: Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, H.E. Senator Tunde Ogbeha, Emmanuel Ibehi, Former Women Affairs Minister, Zainab Maina, Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Former Foreign Affairs Minister Chief Tom Ikimi and Senator Abdul Ningi

COMMUNIQUE OF THE MEETING OF CONCERNED LEADERS OF THE PDP HELD AT TRANSCORP HILTON HOTEL ABUJA ON
TUESDAY 1ST JULY 2025
PREAMBLE
The meeting of Concerned Leaders of our great Party PDP was called to discuss the disturbing condition the Party has been sunk into.
Since our loss in the last presidential election and the exit of Dr. Iyorchia Ayu as National Chairman, our dear Party has never been the same again.
Vested interests from within and the irresponsible actions of the APC led federal government which has been using State Institutions to stifle and destroy the Democracy knows no bounds!
The inability of PDP leadership to lead the Party by its Constitution, rules and regulations led it into a chaotic and undisciplined Party!
The vision of the founding Fathers for which the Party was established and the role it played in restoring Nigeria as stable and united country and key player on the regional, continental, and global stage has been washed away just as our roles as the leader of the black race is now overtaken by smaller and less endowed countries.
Painfully, Nigeria is now a diminished country and an embarrassment on the world stage!
The meeting took time to deliberate deeply on the issues of democracy, national unity, national security, economy, corruption, governance, and other concerns plaguing our country.
Arising from the above, the meeting hereby resolved as follows:
1) The APC government, which came into being on the false and evil propaganda, to save Nigeria from PDP is now a disaster to our nation and therefore must be voted out of power
2) All indices of development that support the comfort and quality of lives of the citizens have collapsed, and life is now hell in Nigeria
3) The PDP, which is organic with the discipline, capacity, and history to lead and save Nigeria, is now a shadow of its old self. The heatwave unleashed by the APC Federal government through threats, blackmail and patronage has forced elected officers in government to abandon the PDP.
The meeting here now decides
a) The meeting encourages all well-meaning PDP Members and other patriotic Nigerians to join the coalition.
b) All coalition partners must be united on the issues of NATIONAL UNITY, DEMOCRACY, NATIONAL SECURITY, NATIONAL ECONOMY, and the political will to stamp out corruption embedded in our institutions.
c) the coalition partners to work out the modalities of winning all elections taking into consideration local and national peculiarities.
