OBOREVWORI URGES CALM OVER WARRI WARD DELINEATION, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PEACE, DEVT
Delivering his State of the State address before the Delta State House of Assembly, Governor Oborevwori urged Deltans to remain law-abiding and avoid actions or utterances that could disrupt the peace and security of the state.
“I urge all Deltans, especially those in Warri Federal Constituency, to remain calm and law-abiding, as the issues arising from the INEC ward delineation are being addressed by the appropriate federal authorities,” he stated.
Reaffirming his commitment to unity and progress, the Governor emphasized that he remains a Governor for all Deltans and fully dedicated to building a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Delta State.
He outlined the strategic priorities of his administration, which include fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth, strengthening human capital, developing critical infrastructure, and enhancing governance and accountability.
“Our mission to advance Delta State is unshakeable. These strategic goals such as economic growth, private sector job creation, human capital development, infrastructure, and accountable governance are the promises I made to Deltans, and by God’s grace, we are fulfilling them,” he said.
Governor Oborevwori also provided an update on the state’s security efforts, highlighting the resolution of the Okuama crisis, which had resulted in the tragic loss of four officers and thirteen soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
“Through a combination of dialogue, strategy, and wisdom, we restored peace to Okuama. Today, the rebuilding of the community is in full swing,” he noted.
He assured citizens that security agencies remain vigilant and proactive in addressing threats across the state. As part of ongoing efforts to combat crime, the state recently donated 55 utility vehicles to "Operation Delta Sweep", the state’s Joint Security Task Force.
To promote transparency, accountability, and effective delivery of the MORE agenda, Governor Oborevwori announced the creation of a Performance Feedback Unit (PFU) within the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser.
The PFU will monitor the implementation of set targets across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), track timelines, and evaluate performance to ensure optimal service delivery.
“This performance accountability framework provides a concrete and objective basis to hold heads of MDAs accountable for delivering on the MORE agenda policies and programmes,” the Governor explained.
To support the initiative, all MDAs are now required to submit periodic performance reports, which the PFU will review and compile into performance scorecards for submission to the Governor.
Governor Oborevwori added that a standard template, clear procedures, training, and documentation requirements have been developed to assist MDAs in fulfilling their reporting obligations.
Each MDA is expected to designate a Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics (or equivalent officer) as a focal person, who will receive training on how to accurately report performance data to the PFU.
