It was a gathering of greatness in Abonnema today, Saturday, August 24, 2024, as the life of late Princess Patricia Gboloba Awune Peterside (Nee Bob-Manuel) was celebrated with unspeakable joy.
Unspeakable joy because she departed this world at the ripe old age of 100, a floor signifying fruitfulness, good finishing and an onward journey to a better place with her creator, Jehovah Nissi.
The joyous celebration of the life of the departed Princess Gboloba Awune Peterside (Nee Bob-Manuel), mother of the founder of renowned financial institution, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc, Mr Atedo Peterside CON, Amaopusenibo of Opobo kingdom, attracted not only the magnificent presence of the Paramount Head of Oruwari Briggs War Canoe group of Chieftaincy Houses of Abonnema, Opuda (Alabo) Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the Amayanabo of Abonnema, HRM King Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel II, Owukori IX and the entire Abonnema council of Chiefs, but also had King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jeki V, Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom, as well as the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, the former governor of Rivers State, Sir Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus and others, gracing the occasion.
You will recall that, Opuda (Alabo) Dumo Lulu-Briggs has always given great honour to such celebrations of life, tentatively with such that has to do with ripe old age, ranging from 80 and above, be it in birth anniversaries and farewells of this nature, he will always give due honour. Because for him, living life to such an age is indeed a divine blessing, and therefore a privilege to give God all the glory for such grace upon man. In addition, he inclines his thought to also asking God to give him same grace as given such lives.
According to him, Today's attendance to a celebration of a life who departed at 100, is another opportunity to give thanks to God for allowing Mama to live so long, giving her the privilege to finish her task here on Earth. He added that, seeing the magnitude of legacy Mama left behind, there's no doubt that she finished well.
He prayed that Mama will find mercy and rest in the Lord God Almighty. Also asked God to give his brother, her Son, Atedo Peterside the grace to finish better than Mama, and become the pride that she has always wished him to be.
Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs captured the epoch occasion on his verified social media handles thus:
Today, I joined the revered King of Abonnema, HRM King Disrael Gbobo Bob-Manuel II, Owukori IX; King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jeki V, Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom; the Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, former governors of Rivers State and Cross Rivers State, Sir Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and Donald Duke; and other very prominent Nigerian sons and daughters in Abonnema kingdom in celebration of a great life, the burial of Late Princess Gboloba Awune Peterside, the mother of Atedo Peterside, my brother.
Mama's departure at the age of 100 is a profound reminder of the blessings of a long life well-lived, and of the grace and endurance it takes to reach such a milestone. Her life's journey serves as an inspiration to us all, encouraging us to cherish each moment and strive to live with purpose and gratitude.
As we honour Mama's legacy, I pray that God bestows upon my brother, Atedo Peterside, the strength and grace to exceed even the achievements of Mama, for in that lies her enduring pride.
May Mama's soul find mercy and eternal rest in the Lord.
To God be the Glory.
