SLAVE WARRIOR Unveiled In Port Harcourt To Global Audience; As Top Nollywood Actors, Segun Arinze, Kate Ezeigbo, Gideon Okeke, Others Feature In Epic Pidgin Movie




The Chinese Restaurant of the Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt was agog with excitement and filled to capacity with a buzzing, highly expectant gathering of actors, patrons, film buffs and aficionados, as Desgol Entertainment Worldwide unveiled the epic movie, SLAVE WARRIOR to a global audience at a well attended press conference, on Friday, April 4, 2025.

An impressive collage of over 65 local and international media establishments, Airtel, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Nigeria Hotel Association graced and participated physically and virtually at the World Press Conference for the SLAVE WARRIOR web series, which was put together by DESGOL ENTERTAINMENT WORLDWIDE organizers of THE RIVERS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVA.

The multi-million Naira movie which took 22 years to make, is elegantly delivered in Pidgin English, with themes centered on the culture, industry, ingenuity and struggles for freedom, liberty and progress of Africa and Africans.

Both the cast and crew revealed that Rivers State was chosen as the place for the shooting of the epic movie because of its natural endowment that places it at pole position over and above other locations across Nigeria.


Veteran actor Segun Arinze who was one of those that addressed the press, described the experience as interesting, lauded the production team as top notch and extolled the camaraderie that existed amongst the sterling cast and efficient crew and while noting that the script posed its own peculiar challenge since it had to be interpreted from English to deep pidgin dialect beyond the ordinary, pedestrian version many people were used to, which was the language of the movie, hailed the set and Director Alex Joseph for a job well done.

He then described the movie as an authentic Nigerian movie which told an original Nigerian story and urged the press to see the SLAVE WARRIOR, as our own story and take it out to the world just as the people's of South Africa, Zimbabwe and others were also telling their own stories to the global audience.

Director of the SLAVE WARRIOR, Mr. Alex Joseph in his own comments, was full of praise for the cast for their excellent professionalism, even as he noted that many of them, having been used to delivering their roles in queens English, were first shocked and surprised when they were told that the movie will be enacted in Pidgin English, especially since it was not a comedy movie, but a serious story.

However, their professionalism came to the fore as they switched effortlessly into pidgin and blended with the flow of production to deliver what he declared as an original and beautiful "Africanized" story. 

The Movie Producer and Script writer Mr. Justice Onu Ibezimakor in his speech said that work in the movie Slave Warrior began in 2013 with audition in seven African countries and four states in Nigeria in 2023 when the search for locations of the movie sets began. He admitted that it cost more than Five Hundred Million Naira (N500m) to produce Slave Warrior movie as the .expenses keep rising each day prior to its final date of release to Movie viewers across the globe.

”Slave Warrior is a record breaking project that so many international organizations are coming to be part of” Mr. Justice Onu Ibezimakor revealed. He also said that Slave Warrior Movie has over four thousand scenes with about One Thousand and Seven Hundred and Eighty 1,0780 series that made the debut. 

The movie’ s content is about African culture as exhibited by the storyline with lead roles centered on use of alternative peaceful resolutions of problems as set out in the Movie which African societies were known for prior to the coming of the European Colonial adventurers who met such on ground of Africa.

Also speaking, the chairman Actor Guilds of Nigeria, Rivers State chapter, Dr. Ken Osuah, said the shooting of the movie Port Harcourt stand to dispelled wrong narrative peddled about Rivers state. 

The executive officer of Desgol Entertainment Worldwide and organizer of Rivers Film Festival, Kate Ezeigbo, who spoke with newsmen during the unveiling of the series in Port Harcourt, stressed the significant of the movie’s timing. 

 Ezeigbo emphasized that despite the recent political turmoil in the state, slave warrior attracted actors across Nigeria and beyond while highlighting region safety and hospitality. 

The SLAVE WARRIOR  Epic, world class movie, scripted and produced by Justice Onu, with assistance from Blessing Marvel, was directed by Alex Joseph and features an A-List cast of renowned nollywood actors, including Segun Arinze, Kate Ezeigbo, Prof. Ovunda, Jude Isichie, Gideon Okeke and Tosin Adeyemi amongst Others. 

Auditioning for the production of this top range movie was done in several African countries including South Africa, Ghana, Rwanda, Uganda and beyond to assemble the best cast that featured in the movie.

The movie, shot in Rivers State, projects the state as peaceful, rich in cultural heritage and a safe, secured destination of choice for film making.
