OBOREVWORI TO ATTEND 64TH INDEPENDENCE MARCH PARADE

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will tomorrow, October 1, 2024, attend the ceremonial march parade by the Nigeria Police Force and Paramilitary Organizations, to mark Nigeria's 64th Independence Anniversary Celebrations. The ceremony will hold on Tuesday at the Cenotaph, High Court Road, Asaba at 9am. The Governor will review the parade and also take the national salute at the ceremony. A statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, urged Deltans and members of the general public to attend the ceremony.

Recently, Senator Ned Nwoko released bad blood into the polity of Delta State by seeking to create ethnic division among the people. Sitting with a section of his constituents, he alleged that while Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is developing Delta Central and South, he is neglecting Delta North. He predicated his thesis on the allegation that the Governor refused his request to provide N35 billion for the contractors handling the Okpai Power Plant Step-Down project which is projected to provide electricity for a substantial part of Delta North. JADA TENNIS TOURNEY, DEBUTS IN WARRI

  The first edition of the Jada Tennis Tournament (JTT), was held on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Ogunu Tennis Club in Warri, Delta State, with Spencer Umoren Aniekan emerging overall champion.  In the male category, Aniekan won the top prize of Refrigerator to defeat Okobiebi Esiri who won sound system followed by Jackson Junior - Microwave; George Emmanuel -Toaster; Charles Onwuka- Electric kettle and Tonwe Kelvin - Solar light.  In the female category, Precious Ahwin, won washing machine to emerge champion after defeating Akata Princess who won - Gas cooker; Akin Ejoke came third with -Blender; followed by Adenike Akinyemi - Toaster; Becca Pirita- Electric kettle and Annabel Ese - Solar light.  Speaking at the event, sponsor of the tournament, Dr Charles Ukeagu, said the tournament was inspired by his daughter, Jada, who is preparing to join the Tennis club and also as a way of giving back to the club that accommodated him.  Dr Ukeagu who joined the O...

NIGERIA @ 64: Oborevwori Urges Citizens To Persevere; Says Tough Times Don't Last

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Nigerians to remain optimistic and not be overwhelmed by the present economic challenges bedeviling the nation. Monday Onyeme Foundation Doles Out Over N100 Million To Beneficiaries Of Scholarships Scheme

Five hundred and thirty four undergraduates of different institutions of higher learning on Saturday, received more than N100 million for emerging successful in the year 2024 edition of Monday Onyeme Foundation's scholarship scheme. The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, who is the initiator of the scholarship scheme personally presented the cheques to the beneficiaries at the well attended occasion which took place at Asaba. Each of the successful students got the sum of N200, 000 each with the overall best receiving the sum of N600, 000, second best, N500, 000 and overall third position, N400, 000.
