EBIE, A LEADER IN A CLASS OF HIS OWN - Francis Ogini, Former Vice Chairman, Ika South LGA

Francis Ogini, former Vice Chairman, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta state, has described Mr. Chiedu Ebie as an exceptional, rare leader in a class of his own;  untainted by greed, corruption and manipulation that have become the trademark of some politicians.

Ogini noted that no politician,  former or present political office holder in the Ika Federal Constituency is comparable to Ebie and his leadership style in terms of people-oriented service delivery. 

The former council boss made the remarks recently at Agbor, the council's headquarters during an interactive session with journalists.

According to him,  Ebie has demonstrated level headedness, vision, empathy and pragmatic leadership, carrying the people along in the various developmental projects he has attracted to the Ika nation.

“In the past ten years of active participation in politics, Ebie has brought tremendous developments to the Ika Federal Constituency- firstly as Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, secondly as Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) and currently as Chairman, Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). 

"Under him, the NDDC now boasts of a clear vision and a clean result. Working harmoniously with Dr. Sam Ogbuku led Management and other critical stakeholders, the NDDC Board under Ebie has united the entire Niger Delta region and brought sustainable development to the people of the area. It is a statement of fact that the present Commission is characterized by transparency, accountability, people- centred and result- oriented leadership.

Speaking further, the ex Council Vice Chairman expressed delight that some public office holders in Ika land have come to learn from Mr. Ebie what it means to hold a public office as his exemplary and heroic achievement has re-defined politics"

Ebie,  he added, shines a billion stars within the past two years of being in office as the NDDC Board Chairman noting that  Ika nation in particular and Delta State as a whole have benefited immensely from his leadership style. 

"For example, he recently donated a  well equipped ambulance with state of the art health facilities, a 100KVA sound proof generator and thousands of personal protection equipment to the Agbor Central hospital. He equally  deployed thousands of solar powered street lights to the nooks and crannies of the Ika Federal Constituency  comprising Ika South and Ika North-East.

"Remarkably, Ebie provided these without any form of discrimination. 

In the same vein, he has carried out series of empowerment programmes, particularly for the youths, immensely supported education through scholarships and equipment with modern ICT facilities of the Law faculty, University of Delta, Agbor, Delta State.

"Still very fresh in our memories is his financial assistance and Palliatives to the Agbor fire victims, among other good deeds he has done as Chairman, Governing Board of the NDDC. 

"Recall that as commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, his achievements remained unparalleled. He revived the Delta State principal cup, a football tournament that has today produced so many football talents and stars, among other achievements", Ogini stressed.

DELTA BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF LANDMARK ASABA WATERFRONT CITY

Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR was born on 27th of September 1960. He is a retired Navy vice admiral, who was the 22nd Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of the Nigerian Navy from 2015 to 2021. Ibas was born in Nko, Cross River State. He enlisted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of 26 Regular Course on 20 June 1979 and was commissioned sub-lieutenant on 1 January 1983.
