Dumo Lulu-Briggs Offers Uplifting Words To Celebrate People With Disabilities, As World Marks 2025 International Day Of People Living With Disabilities

Rivers born oil industry mogul and renowned philanthropist, Opuda, Alabo Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Iniikeiroari VI of Kalabari Kingdom and Paramount Head, Oruwari-Briggs War Canoe Houses of Abonnema, has offered uplifting words to encourage, inspire and motivate people living with disabilities all over the world, as he joins them to celebrate the 2025 International Day of People living with disabilities, which is on December 3, annually.

Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, who customarily celebrates his own birthday every year with them, also used the auspicious occasion of their special day, to extol the resilience and incredible strength with which people living with one disability or another, navigate the vicissitudes and complexities of life, even as he urged them to keep going, keep growing, keep shining and never allow their situation to discourage them from reaching the destinations and achieving the goals they have set for themselves, saying: "Your life is a testimony of strength the world desperately needs."

Celebrating them specially on the International Day of People living with Disabilities, Opuda, Alabo Dumo Lulu-Briggs, who is also the Chairman Platform Petroleum Limited, penned this beautiful message on his verified social media handles:
A WORD TO MY FRIENDS THIS INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES 2025

Today, my heart has been reflecting deeply on who persons with disabilities truly are. I’ve had the honour of calling many of them friends. In fact, almost every year, I celebrate my birthday with them. But even with a dedicated day like this, I know it is still not enough because their lives, their stories, and their resilience deserve more than a date on a calendar.

Many of us won what we casually call the genetic lottery. Our bodies function as expected; our limbs are intact; our senses respond. And because of that, we may never fully understand what it means to navigate life missing a component of what others take for granted.

Yet, in the places where life has dealt them with the hardest hands, these incredible individuals continue to show strength that humbles the rest of us.

So today, I raise my voice in solidarity, with every person living with a disability and with everyone who stands beside them in support. I want to say this clearly:

Your background is not a sentence. Your challenge is not your full story.

Never let your situation convince you that you can not reach the destination you’ve set for yourself.

Because the truth is this: your brain is not disabled. Your will is not disabled. Your purpose is not disabled.

Where there are limitations, humanity has always found ways to adapt, innovate, and rise.

Everyday you wake up and choose to live, choose to try, choose to hope, that alone is courage. That alone is grace. That alone is victory.

So, to everyone living with a physical or developmental challenge:
I see you. We see you. We honour you. We stand with you.

Keep going. Keep growing. Keep shining.
Your life is a testimony of strength the world desperately needs.
