Stop Excuses, Learn Pro People Leadership from Ebie, Ika Politicians Told
Politicians and public office holders of Ika origin have been urged to shun excuses for non performance and imbibe people-oriented leadership and quality service delivery from Chiedu Ebie, Chairman, Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The admonition contained in a press statement dated Monday November 24, 2025 and made available to newsmen by GCON Media Team, an Agbor, Delta state based political pressure group committed to strategic political communication, promotion of political ideas and ideals, and celebration of exemplary leadership style and achievements.
The group condemned the new trend of giving excuses as against delivery of democracy dividends by politicians and political office holders from Ika Federal Constituency, noting that such protracted excuses have produced monuments of nothingness.
According to GCON, "it is not only disheartening but disappointing that at a time, the good people of Ika nation were anxiously waiting for democracy dividends, elected political office holders from the area have to our greatest surprise taken to the habit of giving excuses. Instead of meeting the needs of the people that voted them to office, many have spent more time clarifying the difference between the Executive and the Legislative arms of government, and advancing excuses as to why one should not expect much.
"For the past two years and more, it has been excuses, excuses and excuses - a trend which has unfortunately produced a monument of nothingness. We have witnessed elected officials expand goal posts at the middle of the game, abandoning their electoral promises and manifestos. This is disgraceful and therefore, unacceptable’’.
GCON further stated that "also worthy of mention is the fact that while this season of excuses flourishes, Chiedu Ebie, Chairman, Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), a mere political appointee is at about the same time delivering unprecedented democracy dividends to the good people of Ika South and Ika North-East, the two local Government Areas that make up Ika Federal constituency.
"Ebie is a reformer, remodeling and restoring the hope and future of Ika nation with modern and state of the art infrastructures. He is a politician and public office holder with a difference.
"Ebie is honestly different from the bunch of politicians masquerading in Ika Federal constituency. It is glaringly evident that he has used power both constructively and purposely to bring about social, economic and political changes for the good people of Ika nation. From Infrastructure provisions to youth empowerment, human capital development, improved medical facilities provision, sports developments, scholarships, ICT facilities among others’’.
The group advised the Ika nation, especially its youths, to allow sanity prevail over emotion. "They should allow this ongoing democratized development in Ika nation to continue by giving unalloyed support to Ebie. GCON is of the view that if Ebie’s political leadership of Agbor in particular and Ika nation in general, is supported, it will definitely bring about an enduring and sustainable development of Ika people and the nation.
"As noted in our earlier release, Ebie has defined power in the image of his actions. His success and outstanding people focused leadership style was largely fired by unmatched transparency, inclusivity, unwavering commitment to responsibilities and strong morals driven by good home training and further amplified by his not giving into primordial and parochial politics has placed him miles ahead of his peers in Ika Federal Constituency.
"This is the major difference between Chiedu Ebie and others and it largely explains why he is presently considered by all Ika men and women of goodwill as the new political leader of Ika land. He represents the new order in Ika political trajectory, changing the narrative.
"Therefore, as Ebie continues to strive in his present resolve to build a new Ika nation of our dreams, we call on all politicians of Ika ethnic origin who cannot create, to at least emulate and replicate Ebie’s leadership style. He is a humble, human and humane personality and always ready, and willing to accommodate and assist all that comes to him. The good people of Agbor in particular and Ika nation in general have seen the light and would not allow darkness to rule over them again in the guise of politics. Never again", the group added in the statement.
