Nwaoboshi Hails ACNPN, Urges Community Publishers To Strengthen Grassroots Voice

Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has applauded the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN) for hosting its annual event in his hometown, Ibusa, describing it as a remarkable step toward deepening grassroots media engagement.

The Senator, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Mr. Leo Nkeaka, commended the publishers for their commitment to sustaining community journalism and promoting local development narratives.

According to him, the role of grassroots newspapers has never been more important, as they serve as the voice of the common people and a vital bridge between the government and the communities. He urged the association to continue championing stories that reflect the aspirations, challenges, and realities of ordinary citizens.

Nwaoboshi further advised the publishers to remain the mirror of society—a sector that both the people and the government can trust for truthful, balanced, and responsible reportage. He noted that trust is the foundation of effective community journalism.

He also pledged to support the association “in any way” he can, reaffirming his belief in the importance of strengthening grassroots media structures.

The Senator expressed appreciation to the Chairman of ACNPN, Comrade Ike Philip Abiagom, for his leadership and commitment to uniting community newspaper publishers across the state.
