The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN) has honoured The Light Diabetes Organisation for its exceptional humanitarian service and consistent medical outreach programmes targeted at grassroots communities.
The award, presented during the association’s annual conference, recognises the organisation’s unwavering commitment to providing free diabetes screening, medical consultations, and health education to underserved populations. ACNPN described the organisation as a beacon of hope, whose interventions have continued to save lives and promote healthier living across Delta State.
Speaking at the event, the Founder of The Light Diabetes Organisation, Princess (Mrs.) Tonia Akindele, expressed profound appreciation for the honour, noting that this marks the second time the association is recognising their impactful work.
She commended ACNPN for acknowledging organisations that prioritise the wellbeing of the people and reaffirmed her team’s dedication to expanding their reach.
“This award gives us renewed strength to continue our mission,” she said. “We remain committed to doing more for our communities. However, to achieve our long-term vision, we seek more partnerships and support from individuals, government agencies, and corporate bodies.”
Princess Akindele emphasised that collaboration is essential to tackling the increasing burden of diabetes and improving healthcare access at the grassroots.
The event attracted community leaders, health practitioners, civil society groups, and media professionals who applauded The Light Diabetes Organisation for its life-changing contributions and continued service to humanity.
