Just-In: PDP Prevents Sule Lamido From Purchasing Nat. Chairman Nomination Form

Former Jigawa State Governor and major Peoples Democratic Party, PDP stalwart, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has been denied purchasing the nomination form to contest for the party’s National Chairmanship position in the forthcoming convention of the party in Ibadan Oyo State

The mild drama took at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, on Monday, October 27, 2025, when Alhaji Lamido, who arrived at the secretariat around 11 a.m. with his supporters, expressed outrage after officials reportedly refused to sell him the form ahead of the November 15–16 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Addressing journalists outside the party’s headquarters, the visibly angry former Foreign Affairs Minister accused the PDP of frustrating his ambition and vowed to seek justice in court if the situation is not reversed.

Lamido’s attempt to purchase the form was reportedly blocked shortly after reports surfaced that PDP governors had endorsed former Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, as their preferred candidate for the top job.

The former Jigawa governor, who had earlier declared on his verified social media handles that: "By the grace of God, I shall today, Monday, 27th October 2025, by 11 a.m., be at Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party, to purchase the nomination form to run for the office of National Chairman,” however, vowed not to back down, insisting that he remains determined to contest.

The party’s leadership has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, but sources say the endorsement of Turaki may have reshaped internal dynamics ahead of the Ibadan convention.

Before Turaki’s endorsement, Lamido had been among the leading contenders for the chairmanship seat, alongside former Governors Ibrahim Shekarau of Kano and Ahmed Makarfi of Kaduna.

The latest twist has deepened tension within the opposition party, with many describing it as another sign of internal power play ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Delta State Government has issued a new directive banning bushy beards, artificial braided or tainted hair, long eyelashes, fake nails, and other forms of what it calls “indecent appearance” among public servants. The ban was announced in a circular issued by the Office of the Head of Service, which stated that all public servants must now appear in neat, professional, and modest attire that reflects their level in the civil service. According to the circular, male civil servants are no longer allowed to grow bushy beards or wear certain traditional caps such as the “Resource Control” or “Papas” caps. DELTA BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF LANDMARK ASABA WATERFRONT CITY
