GOV. FUBARA EYES MARCH 2026 TO DELIVER 13.5KM ROAD LINKING ATLANTIC OCEAN BEACHES

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has set tentative date of March 2026 to complete and inaugurate the 13.5 kilometer Oyorokoto road designed to link the popular Oyorokoto and the newly discovered Atlantic beaches in Andoni Local Government Area of the State.

Briefing newsmen at the shore of the Atlantic Ocean during the inspection of the virgin road on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, Gov. Fubara described the project as the pathway to the blue economy with its enormous resources.

The governor who defied the weather to embark on the inspection said the road initially planned to hit the Oyorokoto beach was later extended after another tourists' attraction was discovered at the front of the Atlantic Ocean.

The very excited Gov. Fubara seeing the beauty of the ambiance of the Atlantic Ocean said the government intended to tap into the blue economy resort by harnessing the sea front, adding that his administration would create activities around the area to boost the State's economy.

According to him: "I call it the pathway to the blue economy. We decided to construct this road because there is a popular beach around here called the Oyorokoto beach which is one of the finest tourist centers.

"While we were embarking on that project we found out that we shouldn't limit it to that Oyorokoto beach, as we found another site which you can see, this is just facing the Atlantic Ocean."
The governor noted that despite the difficult terrains of the area, his administration is determined to conquer them and deliver the project.

He stated that: "From what we have seen today, the contractor, MCC is doing its best. We believe that hopefully by March next year we will return to commission this project".

The governor on his way back from Andoni further made a stop over at the Kalaibiama-Epellema road in Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area to inspect the piling activities taking place at the construction site of the river crossing bridge to Epellema.
