Court Ruling Did Not Vitiate Our Nat. Convention, PDP Declares; Charges Members To Continue With Preparations

PDP Planned National Convention Not Vitiated by Court 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) @OfficialPDPNig is appalled by the judgement of the Federal High Court Abuja, presided over by Honorable Justice Kolawole Omotosho today, describing it as an assault on Nigeria’s democratic process.

However, the PDP states that the judgment of the court does not vitiate its ability to proceed with the processes and activities towards the National Convention to elect new National Officers to pilot the affairs of the Party for the next four years.

Our Party notes the recent judgement of the Supreme Court which affirms the supremacy of a political party in the management of its internal affairs.

The PDP therefore charges its members, Chapter and Organs to remain steadfast and focused on preparations towards the holding of the National Convention of our Party 

Nevertheless, the PDP as the leading opposition Party in Nigeria committed to the Rule of Law has accordingly directed its lawyers to take immediate action to appeal this judgment in our unwavering determination to uphold, defend and promote multi-party democracy in our country.

DELTA BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF LANDMARK ASABA WATERFRONT CITY

Delta State Government has commenced construction of access road to the proposed Asaba waterfront city in the state capital.  Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who disclosed this during the inspection of the project on Tuesday, said the project was conceived by the previous administration through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model.  He said the state government’s role was to construct a 6-lane access road to the new city, while the developers were expected to reclaim the land and develop the city.  He said: "Asaba is becoming very attractive to property developers who are coming from Lagos to Asaba because Asaba today is housing most of those people from the South-East.  "They are coming here because they find Asaba very comfortable and they know that we are also hospitable.  "The Asaba waterfront city project is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement between the state government and the developers.  "Our obligation is to reclaim the place to give ...

Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas CFR was born on 27th of September 1960. He is a retired Navy vice admiral, who was the 22nd Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) of the Nigerian Navy from 2015 to 2021. Ibas was born in Nko, Cross River State. He enlisted into the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of 26 Regular Course on 20 June 1979 and was commissioned sub-lieutenant on 1 January 1983. He began his primary education at Nko Primary School, Nko, in 1966 and completed at Big Qua Primary School, Calabar in 1971. He then proceeded to the prestigious Hope Waddell Training Institute Calabar from 1972 to 1976.
