Anioma Association USA, Inc., a non-profit socio-cultural organization, has empowered nine indigenes of Delta North Senatorial District with business grants of N500,000 each, totaling N4.5 million.
Speaking at the maiden event tagged 2025 Empowerment Awards Ceremony held at the NUJ Press Centre, Asaba, the National President of the Association, Dr. Kpamioseh Ogbechie, said the programme was designed to support small-scale businesses in line with the Association’s mission.
Represented by Dr. Charles Oseji, Dr. Ogbechie described the initiative as a landmark project aimed at celebrating excellence and empowering the next generation of Anioma entrepreneurs. He stressed that the group remains resolute in fostering the preservation and celebration of the rich Anioma heritage.
“The award ceremony is not merely about celebrating accomplishments, but about reviewing our shared values of vision and unity. I appeal to all to embrace the calling to serve, mentor, and inspire the next generation,” he said.
The Vice President of the Association and Chairman of the 2025 Empowerment Project Committee, Dr. Samuel Momah, represented by Chief Otobo, highlighted the stages of the project initiation, from planning, execution, monitoring, to closure, which culminated to the ceremony.
“We are not only recognizing individual excellence today, but also celebrating our collective commitment to Anioma’s growth. From initiation to closure, every stage of this project was guided by accountability and a shared vision,” he noted.
Dr. Momah disclosed that the Association received 75 applications, of which 59 were qualified, before a ballot selection was conducted at the Association’s National Summit in July, where the nine awardees emerged.
The highlight of the ceremony was a keynote lecture by Mr. Godfrey Chukwudifu Osakwe, fnipr, Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of NIPR, titled “From Local to Global: Leveraging Smart Packaging and Digital Marketing to Scale Your Small Business.”
Osakwe charged the awardees to adopt modern tools of branding, packaging, and digital marketing to transform their enterprises into globally recognized brands.
“You are not just running a small business, you are building a brand. Package your product like you mean business. Market it like the world is your stage because truly, it is,” he said.
He further emphasised the importance of good character, fidelity, politeness, neatness, effective communication, and smart use of social media as vital tools for business growth.
Also speaking, HRM Aloza Ayo Isinyemeze, the Obi of Ugbodu, admonished the beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them by applying the grants judiciously.
“What you are doing is our heritage; that is what Anioma is known for; giving back to society. I urge the awardees to make good use of this gesture to encourage the donors to sustain the programme. It is not money for lunch, it is for business. Think of how you can improve your enterprises,” the monarch advised.
Similarly, the Member representing Oshimili North State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwa, commended the Association for the initiative and urged the beneficiaries to see themselves as models for others.
“N500,000 is a huge sum. I encourage you to be good examples. For my part, I am willing to key into the programmes of Anioma Association USA and support you to ensure your businesses grow,” he pledged.
One of the awardees, Isioma Abia (Aniocha North), expressed gratitude to Anioma Association USA for the opportunity and assured that the funds would be well utilized.
