ADC Clarifies Position on Zoning Ahead of 2027 Presidential Election

The attention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been drawn to media reports suggesting “confusion” regarding the party’s position on zoning its 2027 presidential ticket.

For the avoidance of doubt, the ADC is a democratic and people-focused party. We recognize the reality that there are strong voices both in favour of zoning and against zoning. This is not confusion, but rather the healthy debate that characterizes true democracy.

As clearly stated, the ultimate decision on whether the party will adopt zoning or proceed with an open primary system rests with the National Executive Committee (NEC) in line with the ADC constitution and guidelines. The process will be transparent, inclusive, and reflective of the will of party members.

It is important to emphasize that the ADC is united in its mission to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges. Our leaders, members, and stakeholders remain committed to a Nigeria-first agenda, above personal ambition or sectional interest.

We urge our supporters and the general public to disregard misrepresentations. The ADC remains focused on building a credible political alternative that will deliver good governance, national unity, and prosperity for all Nigerians.

Signed:

Jackie Wayas

Deputy National Publicity Secretary
