Chelsea Amaka Iweanyi Flies Akwukwu-Igbo Flag High, Wins Prestigious President’s NYSC Honours Award

As the Spanish would say, "Que sera, sera" (whatever will be, will be).

For the family of Jesse Iweanyi of Ogbe-Iyase and friends from Akwukwu-Igbo and environs, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, will remain an indelible date in their hearts. On this historic day, their illustrious daughter, Miss Chelsea Amaka Iweanyi, was honoured among Nigeria’s most exceptional youth corps members by His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Chelsea was conferred with the prestigious President’s NYSC Honours Award for the 2020–2023 service years for her excellent service during her primary assignment at Lere Local Government Area in Kaduna State. The award comes with an automatic federal government employment, a scholarship for postgraduate studies in any Nigerian university, and other life-changing benefits.

The announcement was made during a grand reception held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, with the President ably represented by the Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha. She praised the awardees for their discipline, commitment, selflessness, patriotism, and integrity, and urged other young Nigerians to emulate their shining example.

The lesson is clear: Whatever your hands find to do, do it well, for both heaven and earth are keeping record.

We are proud of you, Chelsea. You have brought honour to your family, your community, and the great town of Akwukwu-Igbo.
