Rivers Govt Set To Partner DESGOL Entertainment For 2nd Rivers Int'l Film Festival
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalyi Fubara, has assured that the state government will partner with and provide an enabling, conducive environment to ensure the success of the forthcoming second edition of the Rivers International Film festival (RIFF), slated for October 24 - 27, 2024, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Governor Fubara gave the assurance, when he hosted the Organizers of this year's Rivers International Film festival, led by the Founder and Festival Director of RIFF, Ms. Kate Ezeigbo, during a courtesy visit to the Governor, in Government House, Port Harcourt, recently.
Addressing the team, Governor Fubara said: "We are happy that you are holding this for the second time here in Rivers State. Our administration. The creative industry has a special place in our hearts because when you are done with a hectic day the next thing you need is relaxation and the movies is one best way to relax."
Speaking further, the Rivers Governor noted that the forthcoming Film festival is a youth oriented program and it will benefit Rivers people, adding that the administration will always support efforts by private and other public spirited groups towards contributing to Youth development and other schemes in the state.
The entertainment friendly governor who said his administration will always support projects that can impact on the common man, youths and people of Rivers State, then endorsed the festival, thanking the organizers for such a brilliant initiative.
Earlier in her address, Ms. Kate Ezeigbo, a Film Maker, Entrepreneur, Politician and Media guru, who is also the Founder/Festival Director of the RIFF, said that the organizers of the Rivers State International Film Festival were in Government House on the courtesy visit, to brief the Governor about the the second edition of the Rivers International Film festival, (RIFF) coming up from October 24 - 27, 2024, in Port Harcourt.
She said: "Our dear governor, thank you for been so exceptional in your style of leadership. This festival will rewrite the false story told beyond about our dear state. Every October as they gather here they will see for themselves that we are peace loving, hardworking and we have intelligent youths ready to take on the world".
Ms. Ezeigbo, who is also the CEO of Dhekat Services Limited and DESGOL Entertainment Worldwide, the organizer of The Rivers International Film Festival, said the festival will add to the economic growth of the state and create wealth through the several empowerment programs that will feature during the event.
"It's a four days programme of promoting the cultural heritage of Rivers State, Business Network, Movie screening, Talent discovery, Empowerment, Healthcare and Fun", she added.
Those that accompanied Ms. Ezeigbo in the delegation that visited the Rivers Governor are: Mr Cromwell Chuku, Barr Pakel Otikor, Mr Godstime Christopher, Mr Koko Napoleon, Mr Kuntesh G, Mr Stanley Ibezim, Mrs Monica Mgbehearu, Mr Dumiebi Nduka, Ms Chinasa Nwaejie, Mr Allison Ogbu, Mr Gift Ajie, Mrs Doris Nnadi and Mrs Onyinye Chima.
