Rivers born prominent statesman and Oil industry Titan, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has joined many Nigerians, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to mourn the late Nigerian music Amazon, Activist, Journalist and Actress, Ms. Onyeka Onwenu, who sadly and unexpectedly departed to the great beyond on Tuesday, July 30th.

In a moving and deeply profound tribute posted on his verified social media handles, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs celebrated Nigeria's Queen of Songs and "Elegant Stallion", the moniker which late Onyeka Onwenu was fondly addressed with, thus:

The news of the passing of the legendary artiste and actress, Onyeka Onwenu, at the age of 72, has left me with profound shock and a heavy heart. 

Such timeless excellence, such an inspiration, a true artiste, and an exceptional chanteuse, truly a big loss to Nigeria and Africa.

Onyeka Onwenu's contributions to music and film are immeasurable. Her string of popular songs, including the iconic 1986 hit "One Love," has left an indelible mark on our hearts and minds. She served several generations of Nigerians, Africans, and the world at large with her critically acclaimed art.

Remarkably, she continued to share her gift with us up until the very end, singing at a friend's birthday celebration just before her passing. Her dedication to her craft and her love for her audience were truly unparalleled.

My prayers remain with her progenies and family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing that she will forever be remembered and cherished for her extraordinary talent and the joy she brought to so many lives.

Rest in peace, Onyeka Onwenu. Your legacy of One Love will continue to inspire and uplift us all.
