Big Fight In Delta APC, As Ibori, Omo-Agege Battle For Control

Image
Former Delta Governor, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, and immediate past Deputy Senate President, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege are reportedly enmeshed in a Titanic battle for the control of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. The battle, which has snowballed into a cold war, has reportedly polarized the APC into factions, with each of the two gladiators insisting that the leadership of the party belongs to each of them. Findings revealed that the state chairman of the party, Chief Omeni Sobotie, reportedly suffering from an unknown ailment, has been dragged into the tussle, with Ibori and Omo-Agege demanding loyalty from the chairman. Sources claim that the battle for the control of party became intense after Ibori's daughter and member representing Ethiope federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Ehriatake Ibori-Suenu decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently. Although Omo-Agege was in Oghara, headquarters of Ethiope West Local Government of De...

THE SYNERGY BETWEEN THE OBOREVWORI ADMINISTRATION OF DELTA STATE AND THE FG - THE WAY WE UNDERSTAND IT

Image
The DELTA FRESH VISION is an NGO committed to good governance, capacity building, and citizen participation in governance. Delta Fresh vision also aims to be a bridge between government and the governed. The group is a committed supporter of the M.O.R.E Agenda of the Oborevwori administration. In the light of the above, The DELTA FRESH VISION has elected not to be silent on the raging disinformation being spread to the public that the deliberate synergy between the the Oborevwori administration and the Federal government amounts to a planned defection by Rt. Hon. Oborevwori into the APC. In jumping into that hasty conclusion, the APC, the main harbingers of that disinformation certainly did not take into account the administrative model of the Oborevwori administration.   The Delta State government is, perhaps the highest contributor to the Federation Account, in terms of its oil production level. That alone guarantees a symbiotic relationship between Delta State and the Feder...

North's 'repentant' Boko Haram Terrorists - By Pius Mordi

Image
At peak of the campaign in 2013 to package an amnesty programme for Boko Haram terrorists who were wreaking havoc in the northeast and enormous pressure was brought on then President Goodluck Jonathan, Hajia Turai Yar'Adua, widow of late President Umaru Yar’Adua, pleaded that a general amnesty be granted to the Boko Haram terror group. The former First Lady was apparently convinced that just as the amnesty granted Niger Delta militants led to the cessation of sabotage of oil facilities and stabilised crude oil export, creating a similar platform for the murderous islamist group will pacify them and restore peace to the northeast. “I want my brother [President Jonathan] to sit and think carefully and grant amnesty to Boko Haram. I am expecting my brother to do what Umaru did for the militants in the Niger Delta. Some people sang here today that children are dying in the Niger Delta; let me tell you that children are dying every day in the North. As your sister and a Northerner, I wa...

Oborevwori Not Leaving PDP - Spokesman

Image
Chief Press Secretary to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Sir Festus Ahon, Monday, described rumours of defection plans of the Governor to other party as untrue and concocted by some elements in the opposition in the State. Ahon in a statement in Asaba, said some elements in the opposition party in the State were threatened by the rising acceptance and bridge-building efforts of the Governor across political divides. According to him, Governor Oborevwori will continue to collaborate with the government at the centre for the overall benefit of Deltans and the country at large. He said the Governor had no reason to defect to any other party given his wide acceptance in the PDP and followership by well meaning Deltans and residents, adding that he remained focused on delivering the MORE Agenda to all Deltans as promised during his electioneering campaigns. He therefore urged Deltans to ignore the rumours making the rounds as it was the handiwork of mischief makers and fifth col...

Delta APC In Disarray, Panic Over Oborevwori's Rising Profile - By Fred Edoreh

Image
In his inaugural address on May 29, 2023, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State re-established the finest definition of governance. In his words, it is "about improving the quality of life of our people, about building bridges of social cohesion, about giving our people the hope of a better tomorrow, and about accelerated development. And it demands creative thinking, proactive action, and exemplary leadership." The remarkable phrases in the quote, for me, are "building bridges of social cohesion" and "exemplary leadership," without which the other objectives cannot be attained. On this, he has repeatedly reiterated that he is Governor for all Deltans, not just for his political party, the PDP, and he has demonstrated that in, not only his fair distribution and commitment to the completion of multi-sector projects across all the senatorial districts, federal constituencies, local governments and ethnic nationalities, but also in his social and politic...

GOV OBOREVWORI REMAINS IN PDP - Arenyeka

Image
SOLOMON ARENYEKA: GOV OBOREVWORI REMAINS IN PDP   The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Delta state chapter has been drawn to mischievous, sinister and baseless speculations especially in the Social Media that the Governor of Delta State and our political leader, His Excellency, Rt.Hon.Sheriff Oborevwori has perfected plans to decamp to the All Progressives Congress, APC. The State leadership of the PDP viewed such unfounded reports as the handiwork of jobless political hirelings and their ignoble sponsors as failed agents of destabilization and treachery.  We particularly state in clear terms that the faceless group of individuals spreading the rumours and parading themselves as concerned leaders of the PDP are impostors and are not members of our great Party.  We strongly condemn in all vehemence the vile and wicked propaganda of the depraved perpetrators, particularly the key peddler, a notorious serial blackmailer and dishonest scoundrel who would live ...

GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI, FOCUSING ON LEGACY PROJECTS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Image
DELTA FRESH VISION has been studying the driving force behind Sheriff Oborevwori's legacy projects which are encapsulated in his M.O.R.E Agenda and we have come to the inescapable conclusion that he desires to make a difference in his style of infrastructural development programmes. Legacy projects are significant initiatives, programmes or infrastructural developments that leave a lasting impact on a community, organization or region. These projects are often associated with leaders, organizations or administrations and are considered key achievements that define their tenure or influence. Some of these projects address foundational issues or challenges, creating benefits well beyond the project completion. They also represent the vision, priorities and values of the administration. They are designed to be durable and beneficial to future generations. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has pledged infrastructural renewal and sustainable development in Delta State. He envisions that his a...

2025: DUMO LULU-BRIGGS NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO NIGERIANS

Image
"O God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home..." What a blessing it is to be alive on this first day of 2025! These are the words of one of my father’s favorite hymns, and through the years, I have found deep comfort in the timeless truth of its lyrics. I remember watching my father sing these words when we had so little, and yet, even in the toughest of times, the hymn seemed to fuel his unwavering trust in God. Today, I stand as a living testament to the truth that God is indeed our shelter from every storm. He doesn’t just offer shelter; He establishes and strengthens all who place their trust in Him. None of us knows what 2025 will bring, but we lift our eyes to the hills, trusting that whatever this year holds, our help is certain in Almighty God. As the hymn says, our hope for the year ahead is secure in His hands. I encourage you to step into this new year with your head held high, knowing that the O...

Sheriff Oborevwori, has extended his heart-felt condolences to the families of victims of Sunday's fire incident caused by a fallen diesel tanker in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of the state.  The diesel tanker reportedly suffered a brake failure, and fell at a traffic light junction and exploded into a ball of fire that burnt four persons to death. Three other persons suffered various degrees of injury in the explosion and the resultant inferno. CHIEDU EBIE: 55 Garlands To A Rare Breed Of Human - By Jerome-Mario Utomi

Image
Some persons are born as a special breed of humans. Chiedu Ebie, Chairman of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), is one such person. In fact, at 55 Ebie encapsulates Menachem Mendel Schneerson’s postulation about people born as a special breed. Schneerson: “Because time itself is like a spiral, something special happens on your birthday each year: The same energy that God invested in you at birth is present once again”. When you look at Ebie’s career trajectory, his exhilarating performances in all the public offices he has held, his contributions to making Delta state a dream state for Deltans, and his current efforts to saturate the Niger Delta region with socio-economic, infrastructural, and human capital development as NDDC chairman, you won’t but agree that he indeed, as submitted by Menachem Mendel Schneerson, belongs to a rare breed of humans. Born January 2, 1970, Ebie’s birthday is a huge celebration of excellence. Though he wears no airs and...

GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI'S DEVELOPMENTAL STRIDES - AN OPEN BOOK THAT ALL DELTANS CAN SEE

Image
PRESS STATEMENT  02nd January, 2025 GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI'S DEVELOPMENTAL STRIDES - AN OPEN BOOK THAT ALL DELTANS CAN SEE Dear Deltans,  On New Year's Day, I issued a New Year goodwill message on behalf of the Delta State Government using this same medium, with the title: 2025: EXPECT MORE DEMOCRACY DIVIDENDS, DELTA STATE GOVT. ASSURES DELTANS. In that Press Statement, I deliberately refrained from cataloging the already well-known achievements of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori's administration, dwelling instead on the need for Deltans to expect more from the M.O.R.E Agenda of this administration in 2025. It is therefore disheartening for the APC Publicity Secretary in Delta State, Valentine Onojeghuo, to convert the innocuous New Year message of the Delta State Government into their usual political refrain by giving vent to an obvious lie that there is nothing more to expect from the M.O.R.E Agenda of the Oborevwori's administration, this New Year. I would have left the St...

A Greater Delta 'll Emerge In 2025 - OBOREVWORI

Image
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has assured the people of the state of greater dividends of democracy in 2025, with a call for more prayers and support for his administration and the state.  He made the call in his New Year Message to the people in which he expressed gratitude to God for seeing Deltans and residents through 2024 and into 2025, remarking that last year was quite challenging for the state and the nation.  In the message contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, Oborevwori thanked Deltans for their continued support of his administration in the past 19 months and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the state through massive investments in infrastructure and human capital development.  He urged the people to remain prayerful and trustful that God would do new things for them and the state in the new year.  Governor Oborevwori, said: "With profound gratitude to God Almighty, I welcome you all t...

Getting BRACED States Out Of The Doldrums - By Pius Mordi

Image
It is an acronym that is as classy as it is inspiring. In 1999, just as the Fourth Republic was birthed, the governors of the six states that make up the Niger Delta, got together and set up the BRACED Commission - to create a strong regional economy through economic cooperation and integration, leading to sustainable development and collective benefits for the people of the region. The acronym is drawn from the first letters of the six states - Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta. Cross River State under the charismatic Donald Duke hosted the first South South Economic Summit at the then futuristic and picturesque Tinapa Resort in April 2009 where tentative steps were taken to draw the road map for a regional approach to the development of the states. Three years later, Asaba, capital of Delta State, hosted the second edition where Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan pulled all stops to host a three-day spectacular talk shop where Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, was the key...
