Delta: WALKATHON EXPERTS WALK 12 HOURS, 60+KM FROM AGBOR TO THE FINISH LINE IN ASABA - By Patrick Ochei

Saturday, 5th April, 2025, will in a long time remain indelible in the memoirs of Deltans, Nigerians and Africans, being a day that 41 participants of the Hope Unites 2025 - Walkathon and Event, including the accompanying Police, FRSC, Red Cross and Medical Teams, broke the record by taking part in and completing a 60+km walk from Agbor to Asaba for an awareness of child separation issues in society, and it is also demonstrative of the toil and stress the average Nigerian family has to go through just to make ends meet. The walk which was organized by Fostering Hopes Foundation, commenced exactly 5:00am in the morning and terminated few minutes past 5:00pm in the evening at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba. ANAMBRA GUBER 2025: Soludo Emerges APGA Consensus Candidate

The governor of Anambra state, Professor Chukwuma Soludo CFR., has emerged the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) party during the April 5, 2025, primary election held at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.  According to Chief Nwaegbo Uche, chairman of the electoral committee, Soludo pulled a total of 3168 votes to emerge the candidate of the party. After announncing the result, Chief Nwaegbo officially declared Soludo the winner, returned him as the party’s candidate and presented him with a certificate of return. In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo thanked the delegates for electing him to run for a second term under the platform of APGA. PDP Condemns APC's Misguided Critique on Agbor Flooding

The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned in strong terms the state APC's misguided critique regarding the flooding in Agbor caused by heavy downpour. In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Delta State, Hon. Sunday Apah, on behalf of the party, it stated that the PDP feels compelled to respond to the misguided and unfounded assertions made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State regarding the recent flooding in Agbor. A distinguished delegation of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), led by its President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, paid a courtesy visit to former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to formally present the burial plans for the late Pa Dr. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark. The delegation, which included Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Chairman of the National Burial Committee; Engr. As part of preparations for a befitting burial for the renowned leader of Ijaw Nation, Late Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, the Burial Committee, on Friday, paid a visit to Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Foreign aids are assistance given by a country to another , usually for humanitarian, economic or development purposes. Many African nations have fallen into this trap with the insane belief that these aids or grants are free resources with no payment required.  Many foreign aid programmes come with political or economic conditions that can resemble the control imposed by foreign loans. Aid sounds benevolent but when it has hidden conditions, it can trap nations in debt dependency. Has African nations really benefitted from foreign aid programmes? CULTIVATION OF DEPENDENCY CULTURE  The reliance of Africa on foreign aids has fostered a dependency mentality amongst policy makers who may view aid as a primary solution to developmental challenges. A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, indicated that the President  removed all other board members appointed with Akinyelure and Kyari in November 2023.
