PDP Condemns APC's Misguided Critique on Agbor Flooding

The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned in strong terms the state APC's misguided critique regarding the flooding in Agbor caused by heavy downpour. In a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Delta State, Hon. Sunday Apah, on behalf of the party, it stated that the PDP feels compelled to respond to the misguided and unfounded assertions made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State regarding the recent flooding in Agbor. A distinguished delegation of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), led by its President, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, paid a courtesy visit to former President of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, to formally present the burial plans for the late Pa Dr. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark. The delegation, which included Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Chairman of the National Burial Committee; Engr. Ebipamowei Wodu, INC National Secretary; and Chief Ebikeme Clark, eldest son of the late Ijaw leader, met with Dr. Jonathan to seek his support and blessing for the funeral arrangements. As part of preparations for a befitting burial for the renowned leader of Ijaw Nation, Late Pa Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, the Burial Committee, on Friday, paid a visit to Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, at his private residence in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Led by the Chairman of the Committee, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs; the delegation also had the National President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Prof Benjamin Okaba; among others, on the entourage. The delegation was at the Governor's residence to brief him on the progress so far made on the preparations for a successful burial for the former Federal Commissioner of Information; Senator and Leader of Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF).

Many African nations have fallen into this trap with the insane belief that these aids or grants are free resources with no payment required.  Many foreign aid programmes come with political or economic conditions that can resemble the control imposed by foreign loans. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has given a detailed breakdown of the process that resulted in the failed recall petition against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly. INEC, in an official statement released to the public, announced that they verified only 208,132 signatures and thumbprints as authentic, from the recall petition submitted against the Senator Natasha. This number falls short of the constitutional requirement by 29,146 signatures, and as a result, the recall process will not proceed any further. FLOOD PREVENTION: Delta Govt Calls For Collective Action Against Natural Disasters

The Delta State Government has urged residents, stakeholders, and organizations to take collective and proactive measures in mitigating the impact of natural disasters.  Recognizing the increasing threats posed by flooding, erosion, and other environmental hazards, the government emphasized the need for community engagement, preparedness, and sustainable practices to safeguard lives and property.  The State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, made the call during a press conference in Asaba, on Thursday.  The Commissioner who was reacting to Wednesday's torrential rain and flood erosion along Old Lagos - Agbor Road, Boji-Boji Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of the state, called for a collective positive action against natural disasters.  He urged residents to adopt environmentally friendly practices, adhere to safety guidelines, and work together in building a more resilient Delta State.  Aniagwu said: "Yest...
